The Prettl Electronics Group, a leading German system supplier for Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) and mm1, a leading consulting company for Connected Business, have agreed to enter into a strategic partnership in the business segment "Internet of Things" (IoT) as of August 1, 2019. Part of this partnership is the acquisition of mm1 Technology GmbH by lesswire GmbH, a subsidiary of Prettl Electronics.
The rapidly growing market for industrial IoT applications and the increasing technical complexity demand for integrated solutions under one roof. Therefore, the Prettl Electronics Group will prospectively make use of mm1's expertise in consulting and project planning, whereas mm1 will expand its portfolio with Prettl's industrialization and manufacturing knowledge. Thanks to the combined service portfolio, even wide-ranging IoT use-cases can be implemented.
Willi Prettl, shareholder of the Prettl Group, explains: „IoT solutions require a high degree of project planning and consulting effort. To address these requirements, we are committed to use both know-how and expertise from mm1." Laurenz Kirchner, managing partner at mm1, adds: „It is becoming increasingly apparent that we are leaving the pilot phase in IoT projects. Thanks to our strategic partnership with Prettl, we can offer our clients consulting and development services, as well as industrial production of large batch sizes.“
mm1 Technology GmbH becomes Wireless IoT Solutions GmbH (WIS)
A key aspect of the agreement is the takeover of Berlin-based mm1 Technology GmbH by lesswire GmbH. The experienced development team around CTO Lyn Matten will build on the existing mm1 strengths in the IoT project business and further expand the business with Narrow Band IoT (NB-IoT) solutions in the newly founded Wireless IoT Solutions GmbH (WIS).
"It was important for us to be able to scale our NB-IoT solutions even better in the future. We are therefore happy that we found an investor as well as a strategic partner for this business in lesswire and the Prettl Electronics Group," comments Lyn Matten, CEO of the new Wireless IoT Solutions GmbH. Frank Borrmann, Managing Director of lesswire, adds: "For us, the acquisition is a perfect complement to lesswire's core business and a further step towards an even more powerful unit in the field of IoT solutions".
First joint presence at IFA
Interested parties can find out more about the new NB-IoT solutions online at www.easy-nbiot.de. From September 6 to 11, they can also experience selected use cases live at IFA in Berlin. At the Conrad Connect booth (Hall 25, Booth 333) specialists from WIS and mm1 will present their joint IoT offering.
