Auf der Internationalen Funkausstellung in Berlin wurden auch in diesem Jahr wieder zahlreiche Innovationen, Trends und Produkte vorgestellt. Im Fokus der IFA 2018 stand vor allem das Thema der Sprachassistenten und deren Integration in die Geräte zahlreicher Dritthersteller. Gleichzeitig gab es viele Verbesserungen in den Bereichen Smart Home, Smart TVs, mobilen Endgeräten und Drohnen.

Voice Assistants: One of this year’s big trend at IFA is the ongoing integration of voice assistants such as Amazon’s “Alexa” and Google Assistant in a wide range of third party devices from different vendors. This particularly applies for Smart Speakers. New players try to occupy niches to participate in the fast-growing market.
Smart Home: Smart security systems are becoming more sophisticated being equipped with facial recognition and additional sensors. Most Smart Home appliances can be controlled using Amazon’s "Alexa" and Google Assistant.
Virtual Reality & Smart TVs: Flexible OLED screens promise new possibilities, e.g. as a full dashboard in cars. At the same time, first 8K Smart TVs are available for customers. VR headsets are evolving but, just like TVs, lack revolutionary innovations.
Smartphones, Wearables & Connected Devices: Smartphones improve incrementally in camera quality and specific fields of application like mobile gaming. Smartwatches and connected devices extend their functionality for instance with GPS sensors becoming more independent from smartphones.
Robots & Drones: Robots focus on specific use cases like house work or sleep to improve everyday life. Drone manufacturer show only limited product innovations and focus on price to compete in the mass market.
